Tribes for Experts: Find Your 15
Being in business for yourself can be isolating. Lonely.
Anthropologist and expert on tribes, Robin Dunbar identified that successful tribes and groups operate in groups of 5, 15, 150 and with a greater village going to 1500.
According to Matt Church, one of the top 10 speakers globally says that in today's world, we have another layer being 15,000 in social following.
For experts going through extreme growth, they can focus too much on the 1500 and 15,000 figures and easily lose sight of their closest tribe members. For instance, tour board of directors who have the greatest influence over your success is crucial. Without them, you're pulled in every direction, spread thin, lose your identity being who your 15,000 want you to be. You're driven by popularity, vanity metrics, search engines and hashtags and ultimately become who the 15,000 want you to be.
If this is you, it's time to bring in your 15.
Who are those who have trod the path you want to tread? Who is in your corner with you? Who directly impacts your growth? Who are you really trying to become?
Stop feeling alone and start feeling solid.
Start feeling unshakeable and strong.
Do the work your board advises you to do.
Eagles don't flock so you need to go out, find them and build your tribe.
Who are yours?
