"The best way to predict the future is to create it”
It was June 2012. I started my career and executive coaching practice in 2010, so I was two years in. I had left my corporate role leading the capability of one of Australia’s largest retailers to start my own business. I had finally started the dream of helping people more and doing more of what I love.
After a demoralising divorce and having to move back in with my parents at 30 I felt like I was back on track! But reality started to hit…

Jane’s Story
I was so frustrated.
Whilst I was able to get clients, after the first two years I realised I was working too hard for the return. I was working 100 hour weeks delivering coaching and contracting as a trainer — even acting as my own business consulting coach — and I was exhausted trying to do it all myself.
So I met with a mentor for a coffee who seemed to be doing really well, looked happy and certainly not as tired as I felt! I asked …
“Have I done the wrong thing by starting my own business?
Have I bitten off more than I can chew?
I don’t know if I can do this… do you think I should go back to a job?”
They challenged me to really think about why I started in the first place. I said I really wanted to use my skills to their potential, help more people than sitting behind a desk in a corporate role and to be able to create a lifestyle of fun, freedom and fulfilment. I really felt like I had a second chance after my divorce and it was now or never!
They then asked me “"So what would it take to build a practice that was genuinely world-class, not just good, but exceptional?"
This question stopped me in my tracks. I'd never thought about it that way before. I assumed exceptional was something that happened to people — not something you could architect deliberately.
That question changed everything.
You need to be exceptional.
What most people don't know about me is that my edge as a business growth strategist isn't just marketing, it's learning design.
Before starting my consulting practice, I spent over 15 years in corporate leadership across sales, operations, customer experience, productivity, communication, marketing, strategy and people capability. I designed and managed learning programs for more than 10,000 people across some of Australia's largest organisations. I know how adults actually change behaviour and what makes people development go viral in organisations. I know how to architect programs that produce measurable, lasting results, not just content that gets delivered and forgotten.
I also know how these decision-makers buy, because I've been one of them.
Six months after that conversation with my mentor, I joined a Thought Leadership Program, and things began to change. My practice went on a growth trajectory, and I became a faculty member, working with hundreds of consultants and advisors, particularly women in B2B consulting and advisory services, over the following seven years.
What I discovered was that the most capable experts rarely failed because of a competence problem. They failed because of a design problem. Their practice wasn't architecturally built to scale, the positioning was unclear, the programs weren't packaged for commercial leverage, the systems weren't in place, and the thought leadership wasn't doing the work it should.
That insight became the foundation of everything I do. I work at the intersection of business growth strategy, learning design and performance, and it's that combination, with the rigour and standards of world-class practice architecture, that explains why my clients don't just get better known. They build practices that compound.
It’s absolutely possible.
For the past 16 years I've worked alongside some of Australia's and the world's most respected thought leaders, consultants, and advisors helping them translate deep expertise into commercial momentum and market authority.
Voted in the top 3 branding experts globally, I've contributed to Forbes, appeared on Sky Business, the BBC and the Today Show, and authored 14 books on strategic communication and business growth. I've worked with organisations including IKEA, Rio Tinto, Virgin Australia, Cisco and Mercedes-Benz, and supported more than 200,000 leaders and experts across five countries.
I've won more than 100 awards in branding, marketing, sales and communication, not because I collect awards, but because the work produces results that are independently recognised.
The corporate background, the capability programs, the large teams, the P&L responsibility, means I understand how organisations buy, how senior decision-makers think, and what it actually takes to build something that lasts. That foundation informs every engagement.
I have worked with over 150,000 people with their personal and business brands. I've been featured in The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, BBC Online, Today Tonight, ‘Mornings’ on Channel 9, Management Today and Marie Claire. I have also written 14 books on how to brand, market, position and sell yourself effectively.
I have delivered programs for a broad range of clients including Telstra, Virgin Australia, Lego, IKEA, Sunsuper, Origin, Rio Tinto, Australian Medical Association, AIA Insurance, TUH, Super Retail Group, Dominos, Conoco Phillips, Xstrata, QGC, Origin Energy, IP Australia, Griffith Uni, International Rice Research Institute, Latrobe Institute of Molecular Science, RDNS, Dept of Defence, QLD Transport, CITEC, AusAid, Stanwell, QUT, Gold Coast City Council and TAFE.
As a keynote speaker, audiences report that I’m captivating and inspiring. I have a natural ability to connect with any audience, meet them where they are, and take them to a place where they can see that exceptionality is really a possibility for them at both work and home.
I believe life is too short to do work that does not make a difference. So I do work I like, with people I like, in a way that I think can get results. As a result, I have a set of criteria that I work within:
You need to be motivated by results.
We need to connect as consultant and coach.
I need to know that I can truly add value to what you want to achieve. If not, I’ll recommend someone else.
